When we first introduced the Level Method MAP, the goal was simple, yet revolutionary.
To create a single, visual system that could measure functional fitness across the broadest possible range — and make it understandable for anyone.
It worked.
Gyms around the world adopted the MAP. Tens of thousands of members saw their fitness “reality” laid out in color — a full-spectrum snapshot of where they stood, and exactly what to do next.
For the first time, fitness was measurable, visual, and actionable.
But that was just the beginning.
The Problem: Fitness Has Evolved — But Measurement Hasn’t
When the Classic MAP was created, the landscape was different. The mission was to define elite functional fitness — a universal standard that applied to everyone, from new members to high-level athletes.
But not everyone is chasing the same goal anymore.
Some people want longevity and vitality.
Some want aesthetic change.
Some want to compete.
Some want to rebuild from injury or focus on specific skills.
The truth is, one universal map can’t capture the full range of human goals anymore.
My Story: From Elite Fitness to Feeling Good
Years ago, I trained to be as fit as possible across broad time and modal domains. Olympic lifts, bodyweight mastery, aerobic capacity — I loved it all. But I also had weaknesses I couldn’t quite quantify. My overhead press was terrible. My running was worse.
I could feel the imbalance, but I couldn’t measure it precisely. The Classic MAP would’ve exposed that instantly — showing exactly where I stood and where to improve.
Fast forward to now: my priorities have shifted.
Sure, broad fitness is still valuable. I still care about being strong and capable — but my real goal is to feel great, stay injury-free, and maintain functional strength for life.
So why would I need to assess 30 muscle-ups for time?
That kind of fitness is not my reality anymore.
This is where Customizable MAPs change everything.
The Solution: Customizable MAPs
Imagine designing a MAP around your current priorities — not someone else’s.
Performance → Max output, competitive standards, sport-specific movements, and high intensity.
Function → Real-world strength, utility, and general fitness.
Aesthetic → Hypertrophy, body composition, and “look good, feel good” goals.
Longevity → Healthspan, mobility, and sustainable endurance.
With Customizable MAPs, gyms can align assessments with their philosophy and programming.
Coaches can build precise, goal-driven maps for one-on-one clients.
And individuals can measure what matters most to them — evolving their MAP as their goals evolve.
This flexibility changes everything.
The Big Idea: From Product to Framework
The Classic MAP will always represent the foundation — the most complete picture of broad functional fitness ever created.
But the future isn’t just one MAP.
It’s a framework for building any map.
A universal measurement engine that adapts to context, goal, and philosophy — while maintaining the same clarity and color-coded simplicity that made the Classic MAP iconic.
This is what future-proofs Level Method.
It’s not a fixed product anymore. It’s an open system — built for evolution.
The Future Is Custom
Whether your focus is performance, longevity, aesthetics, or overall health — the Level Method framework can now adapt to it.
We’re opening the door to the next generation of assessment.
